Our workers are our most important assets. We are serious about safety and health and keeping our workers working at Tangerine House of Design. Worker involvement is essential in developing and implementing a successful COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. We have involved our workers in this process by providing face masks for customers and staff, providing hand sanitizer for customer and staff, implementing a thorough cleaning schedule client visits, and limiting customer contact through offering sessions by appointment only and shipping finished products. Our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows State of Minnesota Industry Guidance for our business, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines, federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards related to safety and health precautions required in response to COVID-19 and applicable executive orders. The plan addresses the following:
1. Policies and procedures that assist in the identification of sick workers and ensure sick workers stay home
Workers have been informed of and encouraged to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The following policies and procedures are being implemented to assess workers’ health status prior to entering the workplace and for workers to report when they are sick or experiencing symptoms. Any employee who exhibits symptoms relatable to COVID-19 will have their temperature checked. Employees will not work if they are experiencing symptoms and required to go home if they have a temperature exceeding 100.4 degrees. Any employee exhibiting symptoms or is living with someone else experiencing symptoms will be encourages to seek healthcare, be tested for COVID-19, and will be quarantined for 14 days.
Tangerine House of Design has implemented leave policies that promote workers staying at home when they are sick, when household members are sick, or when they are required to isolate or quarantine themselves or a member of their household.
Tangerine House of Design has also implemented a policy for informing workers if they have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 at their workplace and requiring them to quarantine for 14 days. In addition, a policy has been implemented to protect the privacy of employee health status and health information. Health information is confidential.
2. Social distancing – maintaining six feet of physical distancing
Social distancing of six feet will be implemented and maintained between workers and clients in the workplace through the following engineering and administrative protocols: sessions will be by appointment only for groups of 6 or less and only containing immediate family members. Contactless invoicing and optional shipping of finished orders will be implemented along side phone and Zoom consultations. In-person sales appointments will maintain a minimum of 6 feet between employees and clients.
3. Worker hygiene and source controls
Worker hygiene and source controls are being implemented at our workplaces at all times. Hand washing, hand sanitizer and face masks will be required of any person not being photographed. Workers and visitors are being instructed to cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing and to avoid touching their face, in particular their mouth, nose and eyes, with their hands. They should dispose of tissues in the trash and wash or sanitize their hands immediately afterward. Respiratory etiquette will be demonstrated on posters and supported by making tissues and trash receptacles available to all workers and visitors. Tissues and trash cans will be readily available to employees and customers.
4. Workplace cleaning and disinfection protocols
Regular housekeeping practices are being implemented, including routine sanitizing of the workplace and frequent sanitizing of high-touch areas. Workers have been instructed that personal equipment and tools should not be shared and, if shared, should be disinfected between users. Tangerine House of Design will be sanitizing the studio, any props used, and all high-touch areas between client appointments.
Appropriate and effective cleaning and disinfectant supplies have been purchased and are available for use in accordance with product labels, safety data sheets and manufacturer specifications, and are being used with required personal protective equipment for the product. Face masks will be available for any client that does not supply their own. Hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes will be available for all clients and employees.
5. Drop-off, pick-up and delivery practices and protocols
Tangerine House of Design will implement optional drop-ship delivery for finished orders to help eliminate in-person product pick-ups.
6. Communications, training and supervision practices and protocols
This COVID-19 Preparedness Plan was communicated through writing and online to all workers and necessary training was provided. Any updates to the State of Minnesota and CDC recommended practices will be added as needed and employees will be trained on any new procedures. The Tangerine House of Design website will be updated at that time as well so clients can be assured of the new policies. This COVID-19 Preparedness Plan has been certified by Tangerine House of Design management and was posted throughout the workplace. It will be updated as necessary.
7. What customers and clients can do to minimize transmission of COVID-19
In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19, employees and clients must wear a face mask and thoroughly wash their hands. Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at all times. Workers are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but especially at the beginning and end of their shift, prior to any mealtimes and after using the toilet. All clients will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entry to the studio in place of soap and water, as long as hands are not visibly soiled. All employees will be required to wash their hands as described above.
